Dental care and Prevention
For healthy teeth
Healthy teeth are essential for your well-being in everyday life. To ensure your dental health, we therefore recommend regular visits to our practice for checkups, preventive care, and prophylaxis, so that we can take timely preventive measures in the event of any dental or gum disease. Don’t forget to include your children in your preventive care plan. Especially at a young age, it’s important to detect and treat conditions like tooth decay and gum disease early on, particularly in baby teeth.
Professional teeth cleaning for healthy teeth
Even if you brush your teeth regularly, plaque and stains build up over time in areas that a toothbrush and floss cannot reach. With regular professional cleanings, you actively improve the appearance and health of your teeth and prevent potential gum inflammation or dental diseases. Using modern technical tools such as ultrasonic devices, we clean the surfaces and spaces between your teeth and then polish, fluoridate, and seal them for all-around protection. Not only does this feel great, but it also looks fantastic.
Here's how we perform a professional teeth cleaning
Preparation: Examination and Questions
We begin by taking the time to conduct a thorough examination of your mouth, gums, and teeth. During this examination, we check for plaque buildup and assess whether your gums are prone to bleeding. To help you better understand oral hygiene, we apply a staining solution to your teeth and show you which areas you can focus on more effectively when brushing at home. You will then receive personalized oral hygiene instructions tailored to your needs. Afterward, we’ll take the time to discuss the rest of your treatment plan, explain each step clearly, and, of course, answer any questions you may have.
Removal of discoloration
We then gently remove stains caused by substances such as tea, coffee, or tobacco. We also thoroughly remove bacterial plaque so that your teeth feel smooth, clean, and naturally fresh again. This helps bring out your teeth’s natural color—without putting unnecessary strain on them.
Tartar removal: Hand instruments and ultrasonic devices
Then the actual cleaning begins. We start by removing tartar from the surfaces of the teeth and from between the teeth—thoroughly, but as gently as possible. For hard-to-reach areas, we use precise hand instruments. We also use modern ultrasonic devices, which can gently and reliably loosen even stubborn deposits.
Cleaning the soft surfaces
Next, we carefully remove plaque from the surfaces of the teeth and from between them. If there are gum pockets, we also clean these areas gently and thoroughly. To do this, we use fine brushes and dental floss, among other tools, to reliably reach even hard-to-reach areas.
Fluoridation
Finally, the tooth surfaces are protected with a special fluoride varnish. This forms a protective film over the teeth, strengthens the enamel, and makes it more resistant to acid attacks by bacteria. This helps keep your teeth healthy and well-protected for as long as possible.
Recommendations
After your professional teeth cleaning, we’ll provide you with personalized recommendations for your at-home oral care. We’ll show you what to pay special attention to and how to make meaningful improvements to your daily routine if needed. To ensure the results last as long as possible, we recommend avoiding foods and beverages that can stain your teeth for the first 24 hours—such as coffee, tea, red wine, or strongly spiced foods.
